At Our House: wow - another month down

So, here I am for my monthly post - I guess once a month is good for me, actually. I can't believe how fast time goes by though.

So, the storm here on last Thursday night was crazy. Luckily, where we live there was so much wet, heavy, slushy snow that no roofs lost titles, not much blew around the yards, etc. We don't have trees in our neighborhood, so our neighborhood had no damage. The 6-7 inches of slush that fell actually helped. If it were powdery snow, it would have all blown away and been pounding on houses. If there would have been no snow, roofs would have been bare plywood for sure. All we got was no sleep because it was noisy and I was worried something was going to come through a window. We didn't lose power, so we're good. Other places, I know didn't come out of it so well.

The boys are sleeping (all three of them!), but should be waking up soon. So cute when sleeping! But, what's new? Well, Neil hurt his thumb a couple weeks ago at work, luckily not bad enought to have surgery, but good enough to have to wear a brace, which is slightly disabling. He has a check up on the 28th and if all goes well there, then he won't have to have surgery. If it's not healing well, then surgery is an option. Hopefully, it's getting better.

Gunnar still loves preschool and I hear him singing his ABC song randomly. He's doing well in school. We haven't heard any complaints. He always talks about his friends there. He came home one day and asked Neil if when Paden got older we could change his name to Zachary (the name of his preschool buddy). Neil, of course, said no. So, Gunnar said that when Paden got older he would just call him Zachary anyway. Silly kid! Gunnar still hasn't gotten out of his whiney stage, which I think because we get irritated and give him attention, albiet negative, that whiney stage is going to be hard to break out of. We're trying to just ignore him when he does something wrong to try to get attention, then he stops. It's hard most of the time though.

Paden is silly too. He still does everything that brother does. He has different taste for food. His most clearly spoken word is chocolate! Seriously! He is starting to string words together for sentences. He's pretty possesive and particular about things. He isn't scared to tell Gunnar no or argue & fight with him. They get along 98% of the time. Paden sometimes just likes to torment Gunnar by being in his way or knocking down the blocks he's building. Paden laughs about it, while Gunnar gets angry. Paden has a hard time choosing which movie to watch and usually takes him a couple tries before he's satisfied; sometimes he changes his mind after you've already started the movie. He still loves Thomas the Tank Engine movies & toys. He likes Bob the Builder, Handy Manny and Dora. He also has a new love for He Man & The Masters of the Universe thanks to Cousin Jake and Aunt Ann. He can do the "By the power of Grayskull" monolog pretty well which is pretty dang funny. Paden on two occassions cried when he had to stay home with me instead of going to Aunt Ann's. He's getting better about staying with other people. We've left him with a couple different friends for couple of hours and he didn't scream the entire time. He's getting used to Nursery. He cried for a while this morning, but then played the puzzles and left me the in dust to go play with the blocks, so I snuck out. He was the last to be picked up, so he got kind of worried when everyone else was leaving. However, not having him scream the entire time is quite an improvement. There's two other little kids his age that also cry when they get to the Nursery, so drop off time is quite chaotic there. All the kids in the Nursery are under 2 & 1/2, except two, so it's interesting for the Nursery leaders, bless their hearts and minds!

Well, we have the heater vent in the computer/craft room closed because the TV stand is sitting on it, so it's cold in here. Plus, we keep the door closed to keep the rugrats out. Gotta get out to get warmed up.
