Today, my baby boy turned NINE!!! What the heck? I am having a little bit of trouble with this - I will admit. This is the last year of single digit ages. Never again will he be just one number. He's getting big. It's funny to see some pictures from even just last year and see how much he's grown. His feet are almost as big as mine! He's getting tall too!
Today, I wanted to celebrate with him all day. I felt like I don't really get to celebrate with him properly. So, I took the day off work and we headed to Portland. This is following a very, very busy and exhausting weekend (side note!). So, we were going to leave by 7am, but we didn't make it. Neil and I went to a Tri-city Dust Devil baseball game Monday night courtesy of my employer. We left the game early to get Gunnar's presents. We got hom after 10pm. Gunnar was still up because the babysitter (love her to death, but . . .) was scared to be up alone at night. She's only 13, so I can understand. :)
So, Gunnar stayed up late, we got home late. We were all very tired. The weekend will be a whole other post - let's just say it was CRAZY GOOD!
We wanted to go to OMSI today. I made resevervations for Benihana to eat lunch at 1pm. We got to Portland and drove by a Party Store on our way to OMSI, so we had to stop and check it out. Cool stuff - so many thousands of balloons I have never, ever seen before. Lots of costumes, lots of party trinkets and decorations. It was awesome. Then we saw a restaurant supply store or two and we have been looking for new flour/sugar containers to put our Costco-sized bags into. So, we stopped and shopped a bit. Needless to say, we didn't make it to OMSI before our lunch reservation.

Samurai cups for a pretty penny, but they loved them
Although, I didn't get overstuffed with food, I think I got enough and it was YUMMY. Fresh food is always great. Gunnar and Paden LOVED the show that Felix put on. It was great. Blogger is being kind of dumb right now, so look for some more pictures on our shutterfly page (later this week).
After that, we thought about going to OMSI, but Fischer was CRANKY. Yes, that kid gets cranky. It was his nap time and he fell asleep in the car by the time we got on the freeway. Because my mom was coming, the boys were excited to get back home to see Grandma and Lizzy. :-)
So, althougth we didn't get to everything I wanted to today with Gunnar's b-day. He was happy about it. When I got home from the baseball game he asked me if I found the gift he wanted. I told him I didn't. I put the gifts in gift bags and stowed them in the stow and go in our van. He had no clue we even had gifts for him. I took Fischer out to "get his diaper bag" during dinner and got the gifts. He was excited. He got an Air Hogs Pocket Copter, duct tape and wacky string. That's what he wanted! I think it was a good birthday for him.
So, so, so tired. This week isn't going to have much more time to rest either. I have to shop tomorrow for our Company picnic on Friday. Thursday I should attempt to get some real work done since I took today off. Friday is the Company picnic, so we'll be crazy busy. Saturday is Gunnar's Livingston Family traditional party at the Moses Lake Aquatic Center.
My house has pretty much been neglected since . . . well, most of the summer . . . but for sure since Thursday. We did a load of dishes last night and this morning and I think I have a few clean clothes to wear to work . . . let's hope, anyway!
