SUPERMAN!!!

Posted by Anonymous at 8/26/2006 06:56:00 AM
Gunnar is all about Superman these days. For his birthday, he wanted a superman bike, superman costume, superman bedding. So, that's what he got. Well, we didn't buy him all of that. Out of the choices for cakes, he picked the fireman, which Coscto technically doesn't do anymore, but we had an old form at my office and they did it anyway. They don't do white whipped frosting anymore though, which is REALLY disappointing because I do not like the sugar-y frosting stuff. Paden seemed to like it. Anyway, Gunnar got his Superman bike with Spiderman (really just spiders) helmet on the day of his birthday. We took him to Red Robin for dinner, but he was kind of being grumpy, so that wasn't an enjoyable eating experience. The big Red Robin bird wasn't there either, which is really the only reason Gunnar likes to go there. We got home and showed him his bike. Wait, back up. Eariler in the day, Neil took the boys to Fred Meyer so Gunnar could pick out his helmet. What I find funny is all day he didn't ask where his bike was. When I got home, he ran over and gave me a hug at the door like normal, then very excitedly he showed me his helmet. No mention of a bike. Funny kid. So, we got home from dinner and asked him if he wanted his present and then he got excited. When he saw the box, he jumped and yelled, "Superman bike!!" We put it together for him and immediately went on a bike ride. He did OK. He did crash into the curb and fell off because he wasn't watching where he was going. So, he was a little scared after that. He's doing better on it though. When his feet slip off the pedals he hasn't quite figured out how to put them back without looking at them, hence this makes him not watch where he is driving.

So, then on Saturday, we had our normal pool party for him. He loves to swim! I was glad to see cousin Hank there because Gunnar loves Hank and Hank is big/old enough to help Gunnar in the pool. Gunnar is a moose, compare to cousin Tessa and I worry slightly when some of the other cousins, who are used to Tess, try to wrangle Gunnar. This day it happened to be cousin Zoey with her broken arm! They let Gunnar go down the slide by himself. Hank had to be at the bottom to catch him, but he went down all by himself. He loved it. Here's some pics of the pool party. I wasn't doing well with the pictures that day. None in the water this year, oh well.

Paden LOVES to swim too and had no fear. He'll jump off the side at any depth, he doesn't care. He seems a little wreckless. YIKES!

Camera battery just died, so I will put up the pictures later today . . .
